Building A Better Body, One Day At A Time

Are you really breaking a sweat?

If you are spending most days of the week working out in the gym, you’ve probably noticed other people’s workouts; a few good, most bad. You probably see people that have bad form, people that have good form, people that do strenuous workouts, and people that do almost nothing. With all this being said, it’s [...]

Conditioning Circuit 1/30

This weekend’s Fighter conditioning circuit is pretty intimidating, but it’s not that bad if you have a few workout partners suffering through the workout with you. The key to this circuit is to maintain a constant pace, hitting the same number of repetitions throughout each set, for the entire duration of the workout.

This is [...]

Circuit Training

With summer only a season away, I have slowly begun to implement high intensity, plyometric workouts into my routine. These are exercises to get my heart pumping and to raise my metabolism to burn all the excess fat that I possibly can.

The workout I did over the weekend was a pretty good one, where as [...]

Time to get lean

Over the years, I’ve always consumed whatever I wanted to eat, and I felt I could because I worked out like a madman. I’ve never been fat, overweight, etc because I’ve lifted weights and played sports, and I’ve always done some kind of cardio like running or the elliptical machine. I ran all through elementary [...]

The World’s Strongest Man

Proper gym etiquette is something that most people seem to know and respect, at least if you’re not from another planet, and have some kind of common sense. Yet, there are always those few who never seem to amaze me though; the kind of people who are unaware of their surroundings or even that there [...]

High and Mighty Chest

It’s odd how on Monday, which is a universal chest day at gyms everywhere, the gym is usually packed, but this week it was dead. You couldn’t beg people to work out on the benches to do chest, which for the beginning of the year, is strange. Unfortunately on Tuesday, every bench in the gym [...]

The New Year’s Rush

Being in the gym yesterday, I was very surprised to see it wasn’t as crowded as I thought it would be. Typically, the first few weeks of the year, everyone and their mother start going to the gym for their New Year’s resolution. They’re motivated, inspired, re-invigorated and ready to lose the fat they’ve been [...]

Chest in the New Year

This week’s chest workout was a basic workout.
I was pretty tired from a hectic vacation and going to bed really late for the past few nights, so my circadian rhythm was off. I was worn out, didn’t eat that well for the past week, and just all around felt lazy and depleted.

Unfortunately, James felt the [...]

Giving the body time to rest

I took the past few days off for a small vacation to Lake Tahoe. I went to a wedding where there was plenty of alcohol and fattening foods. The problem with taking a winter vacation to the snow is that I tend to consume everything that is in front of me. Beer, alcohol, and lots [...]

Xmas Week Chest Workout

This week’s chest workout was getting back to basics. I’ve been lifting pretty heavy consistently now for the past few months so I thought that I would change it up to work on endurance by utilizing higher reps and lower weight. I did cardio first today to get thoroughly warmed up.

Cardio – Treadmill run
0-5 minutes [...]
