Fedor vs the World’s Best

There has been a lot of talk about the UFC and how it handles its fighters. All this comes to light recently because of the way they dealt with Jon Fitch and the other AKA fighters in response to them not signing a release for a UFC video game. The game would depict the fighter’s images and personas, but not give them any compensation. When Jon Fitch and his management declined to sign the release, the UFC cut him from their organization, even though he is one of the premier 170 fighters not only in the UFC, but in the entire world.
It seems that the UFC thinks that they can take advantage of their employees by scaring them to sign their lives away, without giving them fair compensation. You hear it quite a bit from stories that drop to the press regarding Dana White’s tactics to be unforgiving when it comes to signing agreements and contracts. The same problem can also be to blame for NOT signing Fedor Emelianenko, who is considered to be the TRUE pound for pound, best fighter in the world, along with being the #1 heavyweight in the world. He has asked for multiple occasions to fight the UFC’s best, only to be refused because he refuses to sign their one-sided contracts.

It’s very frustrating to see from a fans perspective because we want to see the best fights that the world has to offer. Preventing these super-fights only makes people wonder, “what if”. What if Fedor had fought Randy? What if Fedor could fight in the UFC? What if, What if, What if.
It’s a shame because the way Dana White keeps going, we may never see Fedor fight the best that the UFC has to offer, and then it will always be, “what if”.
