Liddell Vs Couture IV

With all the speculation in the past few weeks of a super fight between “the Iceman” Chuck Liddell and “the Spider” Anderson Silva, it seems that all the talk was just people blowing hot air and wasting their breath. Anderson Silva claimed that the UFC never had contacted him about any super fight. It now appears that Randy Couture will be the opponent for Chuck Liddell. They will be the headliner for UFC 95 in Germany. The UFC is trying to get a stronghold on the European market and want Germany for their next country to expand on.

Stylistically this is a much better fight for the Iceman. Losing 3 of his last 4 fights, one by a “knockout of the year” candidate, Chuck can’t afford to lose anymore fights, especially one by a vicious knockout. The fact that Anderson Silva is 8-0 in the UFC, and has the ability to knock out opponents at will, with either of his hands, feet, or knees, Chuck was deemed just another potential victim at the hands of the Middleweight champ.

Given that 3 years ago Chuck lost his light-heavyweight title to Randy, only to later win it back and then defend it, these guys know each other’s styles very well. Randy is coming off his defeat at the hands of newly crowned heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, and Chuck coming off his vicious knockout defeat to Rashad Evans, this will be a match-up that everyone will want to see.

UFC 95 Couture vs Liddell IV will break ground in Germany in June 2009.
